Jesse W. Stauffer, 76, of Lititz, entered peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior following a progressive illness in the last few months, on Thursday, April 5, 2018. He courageously battled Stage 4 Rectal & Liver Cancer and was totally cancer free since 2015. He was born at home in York county, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Eva Stauffer Stauffer. Jesse was the loving husband of Julie A. Ober Stauffer and they would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in May of this year. For over 44 years, Jesse worked as a tractor trailer driver for Mushroom Transportation, and later retiring from Oehme Contract Carriers in March of 2007. His CB handle was “Rocky Road.” He served in the Army for 3 years, being stationed in Korea for a year. Jesse was a long-time member of Evangel Assembly of God in Ephrata. He was a people person always striking up a conversation with anyone he met and always ready to share his faith. He had a love for nature and being outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Julie, are two daughters: Dawn E. wife of Billy L. Brown of Lititz, along with 2 children, Beverly wife of Tim McCord of Manheim, along with 5 children and 6 grandchildren, and a son, Douglas M. husband of Amy Stauffer of Lititz, along with 3 children. Also, 2 sisters: Ivy Reitz of League City, TX, and Velva wife of Reverend Paul Chamberlin of East Aurora, NY.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jesse’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:30 am. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm with additional viewing time on Thursday morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Columbia.
