Jean S. Hollinger, formerly of Mount Joy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Brethren Village, Lititz where she was a resident. She was the widow of Paul E. Hollinger who died in April, 2012. Born in Mount Joy Township, she was the daughter of Elam and Anna (Reinhold) Stauffer. Jean, along with her late husband, had a life-long passion for serving their Lord and Savior. She was an active member of West Green Tree Church of the Brethren where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 35 years, a head Deaconess, the church librarian, and a key part of the kitchen committee. Jean and her husband hosted many Sunday meals for guest ministers, families in the church, and friends. She was legendary for creating many desserts, often more than ten per meal. Jean enjoyed playing board games with her family and games on her IPad with her friends, and she enjoyed following friends and relatives on Facebook. Her family was her pride and joy.
Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn K., wife of Charles S. Keener, Mount Joy, Joanne M., wife of John H. Bevan, Landisville, Shirley E., wife of Dennis D. Houseal, Mount Joy, and a son Philip S., husband of Donna L. (Kreider), Elizabethtown; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen J. Longenecker, Mount Joy, MaryEllen, wife of Victor Dohner, Elizabethtown, and a brother, Robert L., husband of Lois Stauffer, Marietta. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Carolyn F. Hollinger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean’s funeral service at the West Green Tree Church, 740 Green Tree Road, Elizabethtown on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean’s memory may be sent to West Green Tree Church of the Brethren – Deacon/Benevolent Fund.
