Jean G. Becker, 84, of Evergreen Estates Retirement Community Lancaster, and formerly of Elizabethtown Road, Manheim died peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry N. and Susan B. Garman Givler. Jean retired in 1986 after working over thirty years for the former Raymark Industries Manheim; previously she was employed at the former Kreiders Shoe Factory Elizabethtown. She was the loving wife of Donald H. Becker and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 28th of this year. Jean was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, and a lifetime member of the Manheim VFW Post 5956 Ladies Auxiliary. Her interests included: crossword puzzles, bird watching, hiking in the mountains where she was a member of the Thousand Walks Hiking Club, and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Donald E. husband of Charlotte Stauffer Becker of Conestoga, two grandchildren: Jason Becker, Crystal Pennington, three step grandchildren: Camila Furches, Josh and Nathan Comeaux, four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, two sisters: Joyce G. wife of Parke E. Plasterer, Jean G. Young all of Lititz, and a brother, Ralph G. husband of Lois Hershey Givler of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a brother, Henry G. Givler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her graveside service at the Ruhls United Methodist Cemetery, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM.
