Jeane S. Kaylor Hummer, 72, of Manheim, and formerly of Salunga, died unexpectedly of natural causes, on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in East Hempfield Township, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Mary Hauenstein Stillinger. She was a 1956 graduate of Hempfield High School. For over forty-three years Jeane worked for Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster; following retirement, she was employed part time at the Manheim Auto Auction. She was the loving wife of E. Eugene Hummer. Her first husband was the late Samuel Kaylor. Jeane was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. She was known for her cooking, baking; and other interests included: all types of needle-work, traveling, horses, and basket weaving.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two step sons: Dennis E. husband of Gini L. Groff Hummer of Lititz, David E. husband of Deborah M. Erb Hummer of Elizabethtown, a step daughter, Lori A. wife of Matthew Shenk of Manheim, nine step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, two sisters: Brenda L. Heath of Middletown, Delaware, Mary Ann wife of Brian Crumbling of Wrightsville, three nieces: Heidi Heath-McEvoy, Paulette Hoober-Young, Wynette Benton, and one nephew, Geoffrey Heath.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Chiques United Methodist Church 1215 East Main Street, Mount Joy, on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Interment is in Salunga Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing at the church, on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
