Jay R. Pierce, 86, of Lititz, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, March 6, 2017. Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Dorothy Brown Pierce. Jay was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth H. “Lizzie” Huber Pierce who died in January of last year. For many years Jay worked as a custodian for the Manheim Township School District; previously he worked for Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Company. Throughout his life Jay worked on area farms. Jay was a faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, Lititz.
Surviving are three daughters: Nancy Grube, Roseann Pierce of Lititz, Pauline wife of Glenn Nolt of Manheim, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, two brothers, Luke husband of Anna Mae Pierce of Marietta, Mark husband of Barb Pierce of Manheim, and three sisters: Reba wife of Leon Deck of Manheim, Mary wife of Glenn Boyer, and Jeannette Shreiner all of Lititz. Preceding him in death are two brothers: Sylvester Pierce Jr. and Richard Pierce.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jay’s funeral service at the Salem Lutheran Church of Kissel Hill, 26 Owl Hill Road, Lititz, on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Ephrata.
