Jay R. Ginder, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed from this world into his Heavenly Home where Jesus was waiting for him with open arms after a 2 ½ year battle with brain and lung cancer on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at The Gardens of Lititz. Born in Mastersonville, he was the son of the late Raymond and Stella (Nohrenhold) Ginder. He was the husband of Janet "Becky" (McKain) Ginder and they celebrated 42 wonderful years together. He was a graduate of the former East Donegal High School, and then proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jay first worked for Clifford Denlinger building houses, then became an insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Co. and finally for the Hess Agency of Manheim for 25 years before retiring in 2014.
Jay’s main purpose in life was in serving Jesus which he did by supporting the ministries of Ravi Zacharias, David Jeremiah, Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, MD, and America’s Keswick in Whiting, NJ. Jay was a mentor to many for his integrity, morals and the way he lived his life, not for himself but for others. In addition, Jay was a stamp and coin collector and master carpenter and woodworker among his many interests.
Surviving in addition to his wife Becky is a daughter Karen (Steve) Huber, Lancaster, a son Scott companion of Kandi Mislevy, Manheim; step-daughter Colette Grandstaff, Elizabethtown, step-son Chris (Deb) Vogel, Mount Joy; two grandchildren Blake Huber and Jacy Ginder; three step-grandchildren Tara (Trent) Hoffmaster, Chris Vogel,Jr. and Tilghman Grandstaff; three step-great grandchildren Alexis, Payton & Noah; his “best buddy” Reese Grandstaff, and his beloved dog Molly.
Graveside services will take place Thursday January 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Mastersonville Cemetery, 1969 Mastersonville Road, Manheim PA. In lieu of flowers contributions in Jay’s memory may be sent to David Jeremiah, Turning Point Ministries, P.O. Box 3838, San Diego, CA 92163.
