Jay L. Miller

October 17, 1926 — September 11, 2012

Jay L. Miller, 85, of Mount Joy, formerly of Manheim passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Zeno and Fannie Paul Miller. He was the loving husband of the late Betty Kissinger Miller who died in 2009. Although the family will miss him, we know that he is reunited with the love of his life. Jay worked as a technician at American Testing Labs, Inc., Lancaster, retiring in 2011. Previously, he was a dispatcher for Interstate and Roadway Trucking. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Mount Joy and a former member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. Jay was a member of Elstonville Sportsmen Association, Manheim, Twalkers at Park City and a lifetime member of Manheim VFW Post 5956, where he served as chaplain for many years. His interests included bowling, golfing and watching the Boston Bruins and Oakland Athletics. Surviving are two daughters, Charlene wife of Rupert Taylor of Mount Joy, Deborah wife of Dennis Hoke of Chambersburg, a son, Ronald husband of Susan Miller of Camden- Wyoming, Delaware, two grandchildren, Evan and Aaron Hoke, and four great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Amanda Misal and Benjamin and Taylor Lefever. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephanie Lefever and Chuck Misal, two brothers, Lester P. and Robert P. Miller, and two sisters, Ruth Elmire and Anna Mae Stoner. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Woolverton officiating. (Please use the main entrance at the rear of the church). Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a public viewing at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
