Janis Sloka Jr.

Janis Sloka Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, where he was a resident. Born in Latvia, he was the son of the late Janis and Viktorija Sloka and husband of the late Erma L. Wissler Sloka, who passed away in January of 2015.
Janis was a member of the Latvian Lutheran Church of Bucks County; Quakertown and Lancaster and also Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown.

A graduate of York College and Millersville University, he worked in the unemployment office for the PA Department of Labor and Industry.

Janis is survived by a daughter Deanna, wife of Tim Fry of Mount Joy; a son Janis III, husband of Laura Pettigrew Sloka, of Garrison, ND; four grandchildren, Kyle Sloka-Frey husband of Colleen Speaker of Ephrata, Gavin Fry of Mount Joy, Noah & Hannah Sloka of Garrison, ND; and one great granddaughter, Aela Speaker.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Janis may be sent to Camp of the Cross Ministries, PO Box 1257, Garrison, ND 58540.
