Janet M. Gish

Janet M. Gish, 65, of Mount Joy passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital following a courageous four-year battle with liver cancer. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Elsie Haldeman Good. She was the loving wife of John H. Gish and they would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in September. Janet worked alongside her husband for J.G. Agri-Service, Manheim and in her earlier years, she worked as secretary at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim. She graduated Salutatorian from Manheim Central High School in 1965 and Lancaster Bible College’s evening school. Janet was an active and faithful member of Manheim Brethren In Christ Church where she was Sunday school Superintendent, deacon, taught Sunday school and greeter coordinator for many years. She was a volunteer guide at the Ephrata Cloister, and also volunteered for Lancaster Moms In Touch, LOVE Inc. and Nearly Nu Thrift Shop, Manheim. Her interests included traveling, flower gardening and she loved to spend time with her family and friends. With her warm and gentle spirit, Janet welcomed others into her home with hospitality and generosity.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Jere husband of Barb Kettering Gish of Hershey, Jamie husband of Amy Godshall Gish of Manheim, two grandchildren, Jack and Kate Gish and two sisters, Verna Noll and Shirley wife of Paul Benner both of Manheim.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment in East Fairview Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a public viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
