Janet Lillian Lahr Wolf, 83, of York, formerly of Elizabeth-town, died peacefully, Wednesday May 4, 2016 with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edona "Agnes" Lahr. She was the wife of George W. Grube and the late John B Wolf, Jr. She had worked as a bookkeeper for various retail stores. She was a member of the Fire Department of Mount Joy Ladies Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary of Eliza-bethtown. She attended the Elizabethtown Senior Center, enjoyed playing bingo, and making tote bags out of grocery bags. In recent years she enjoyed knitting hats and scarves to donate to homeless shelters, children's hospitals, and church missions. She especially enjoyed sending cards and always remembered everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. She loved visiting Elk County, PA where she lived for a time, and enjoyed seeing the elk through their life cycles especially when they had their babies. Janet will always be remembered for her collection of Snowmen, about 380 of them.
Surviving is a daughter Janice, wife of Thomas Camacho, York; a son George W. Grube, Mount Joy; 8 grandchildren Jennifer (Terry) Nace, Rebecca (Andrew) Clark, Michelle (Derek) Hoffman, Thomas (Lisa) Camacho II, Jessi (Jason) Kneier, Shaun Grube, Nikki (Bobby) Burrs, Amanda Camacho; 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister Dolores (Walter) Grube, Florida; and a niece Joan Lukas.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family is requesting that in honor of Janet guests wear purple.
Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet's memory may be sent to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster PA 17604-4125.
