Janet C. Buch, 93, formerly of Columbia, and Penryn, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Luther Acres, Lititz, following a brief illness. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Alexander Rineer. Janet was the owner and operator of a medical answering service for 18 years, where she dispatched local doctors and local ambulances; previously she was a supervisor in the packaging department for Winkleman Shoe Company in Columbia. She was the loving wife of the late Draper H. Buch who died in December 2002. Janet was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church Manheim. Her interests included: traveling, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She won several awards at the Harrisburg Farm Show for her hook rugs that she made following the teaching by Dr. Ruth Brenner. Janet also enjoyed raising "Prized Chickens" and received awards throughout Pennsylvania and the Eastern United States. Janet was a very giving person and community volunteer and received in 1970 the Manheim VFW Post 5956 Award for her service to her fellow man; and in 1974 she was awarded the "Service to Mankind Award" from the Manheim Sertoma Club. Surviving is a daughter, Peggy Ann wife of Enos Hoffer of Manheim, 3 grandchildren, Janet wife of John Lehman of Lititz, David husband of Kathryn Hoffer of York, Susan wife of Peter Ringer of Strasburg, 6 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a brother, Charles Rineer and a sister, Amanda E. Rineer Eberlein. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment is in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township.
