Janet Arlene Marley, 80, passed away on November 6, 2014 at the Berkshire Center, Reading, PA. Janet was born October 13, 1934 in Maytown, the daughter of Frederick L and Sara G. (Myers) Hummel. She was a graduate of the former Marietta High School, class of 1952. In 1958, Janet married the love of her life Donald J. Marley and traveled with him to Air Force bases, including Sidi Slamane, Morocco. When Donald retired from the Air Force, they moved to Elizabethtown, PA where they spent the majority of the next 40 years. In addition to raising five children she also volunteered as a kindergarten aid in the Elizabethtown Area School District, and worked at the former Wyeth Laboratories in Marietta. She loved to read, take bus trips and collect items, including baskets and Santa’s, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Janet is survived by her children Karen Marley and her partner, Karen (K.C.) Collins, Cleon (Buzz) husband of Linda Marley, Donald Marley Jr. and his companion Deb Twigg, Lisa wife of Kevin McCullough, Christopher husband of Jessica Marley; thirteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother Charles Hummel, five nieces and three nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, Mount Joy on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Janet’s family would like to thank the Berkshire Center, Reading, and the Keystone Villa, Douglassville for their support and care during the past months.
