James R. "Jim" Way

James R. “Jim” Way, 85, of Salunga, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 23, 2013. Born in Salunga, he was the son of the late J. Earl and Elizabeth Amand Way. He was the loving husband of June E. Horn Way and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in August. Jim was a United States Navy veteran serving during WW II and received several medals. Master Chief Petty Officer Way served on numerous ships, destroyers, submarines and shore stations for several years. He also worked at the former Philips & Jacobs Inc., Lancaster. Jim was a member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy. He was also a member of the Mount Joy VFW, Post 5752, Elizabethtown American Legion, Post 329 and the United States Submarine Veterans Association. His interests included hunting, playing the bass fiddle and he loved to spend time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Patricia L. wife of Doug Fisher of Farmdale, four grandchildren, Janis, Rita, Jamie and Doug, ten great grandchildren, a brother, Jack Way of Arizona and a sister, Betsy Way of Salunga. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven E. Way, a brother, Harry Way and two sisters, Fern and Cindy Way.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Beverly T. Andrews officiating. Interment in Salunga Brethren Cemetery with military honors. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
