James L. “Jim” Musser, 72, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 8, 2024. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Jean Kreider Musser of Brethren Village and the late Harold Musser. Jim was the loving husband of Susan F. Ulmer Musser and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in December of 2023.
Jim was the owner of M & R Grain and recently was blessed to transfer the business and family farm to two of his sons Dustin and Cody. Jim graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1969, and was a member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren.
Farming was very important to Jim. He was always proud to promote Agriculture any way he could. He was honored to serve on the U. S. Soybean Board, PA Soybean Board, and The Lancaster Farm & Home Board. Jim received many agricultural awards during his life including: the PA Master Farmer, the Dupont Young Leader Award, numerous Manheim Young Farmer awards; and was a proud sponsor of the Manheim Farm Show.
In his free time Jim still liked to continue to play in the dirt with his flower and vegetable gardens, photography, and a good game of pinocle with friends as well as taking a relaxing cruise to anywhere. Family was very important to Jim and he cherished any time spent with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan and mother, Jean, are three sons: Brett J. husband of Megan Musser, of Lancaster, Dustin J. Musser, and Cody J. Musser both of Mount Joy, and daughter-in-law Brooke Musser of Gilbertsville, four grandchildren: Cameron, Grace, Mason, Marley, and two brothers Jeffrey husband of Pam Musser of Akron, and Randy Musser of Palm. Preceding Jim in death was a son, Matthew S. Musser.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jim’s Memorial Service at the Hempfield Church of the Brethren, on the corner of Stevens Street and Metzler Road, East Petersburg, on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the church. Private interment will be in the Salunga Brethren Cemetery.
