JAMES L. HEISEY
LITITZ BARBER
James L. “Jim” Heisey 72 of Lititz finished his earthly journey and entered into the presence of his Lord on Monday October 31, at Hospice and Community Care, surrounded by his family. Born on October15, 1944 in Lititz he was the son of the late David and Mary Weaver Heisey. Jim was the loving husband of Ruth Ann Breneman Heisey with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage on August 3rd.
Jim was a graduate of The Harrisburg Barber School class of 1969 and was the owner/operator of Heisey's Barber Shop for over 45yrs. Outside of his shop practice he brightened the day for residents of Landis Homes, Mennonite Home and Moravian Manor as their “Barber in Residence.” He was an active and faithful member of Lancaster Evangelical Free Church where he served as usher. He also volunteered with the Lititz Fire Police.
Jim was a grateful recipient of one of the early Liver Transplants at the UPMC in 1992 providing him with a second and fruitful lease on life.
Family and friends enjoyed their excursions with Jim on the many camping and canoeing trips over the years. Golfing with his buddies each Wednesday and traveling with “The Flingers” a group of four couples who explored out of the way places each spring for 44 years kept his life very interesting.
Surviving in addition to his wife Ruth Ann are his three children; Joel R. husband of Natalie (Bills) Heisey of Pittsburgh, Jolynn wife of Tweit Wickmann of Fort Myers, FL and Michelle Zuercher of Lancaster, nine grandchildren, a brother, John husband of Arlene Heisey of Lititz, two half-brothers, Paul husband of Debbie Heisey of Lancaster, Alvin Heisey of Florida and a half-sister, Susan wife of Ken Reading of Manheim. Preceding him in death is a daughter Jannah R. Heisey.
Jim was committed to the witness of Jesus Christ in his life and to living so that others would come to know the Lord he served. His generous and selfless spirit will live on in the memories of the many people his life touched.
