James Henry “Jim” Foard Jr., 83, of Manheim, and formerly of Manheim Township, died after battling cancer on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. He was born at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA to James Henry Foard Sr. and Viola Foard on February 19, 1932. After graduating from Haverford High School in 1950, Jim attended Penn State University, Mt. Alto Campus, and later Drexel University.
After working in the Philadelphia area he relocated to Lancaster in 1970 to work at Schick. In late 1994 Jim retired from Wyeth/Ayerst, Marietta as a project engineer.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, H. Lynn and two children, Carol F. (Paul Hernandez) of Virginia Beach, and Bryan J. (Andrea) of Ephrata. The joy of his life was spending time with his three granddaughters: Haley, Elizabeth, and Rebecca.
Following NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers brought many hours of great pleasure to Jim. He enjoyed camping for more than 30 years, and vacations throughout the United States, Canada and trips to Europe, most recently to Ireland and Scotland.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.
