James H. Fahnestock

James H. "Jim" Fahnestock, 92, formerly of Willow Street passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Brethren Village, Lancaster. Born in Sporting Hill, he was the son of the late Rev. Harry G. and Martha Heistand Fahnestock. He was the loving husband of Mary A. Doerr Fahnestock and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in June of last year. Jim retired from Turkey Hill Dairy Inc., Conestoga, previously he worked at the former Queen Dairy, Lancaster. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Jim was a member of Lancaster Church of the Brethren. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to West Virginia, Niagara Falls and Lake Placid. Jim loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed singing in the church choir and various quartets at the Mechanics Grove Church of the Brethren, and with the Lanchester Choir of Christiana for a number of years. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Barry L. husband of Donna Fahnestock of Mifflinburg, a daughter, Judi A. wife of Ralph L. Wise of Lancaster, four grandchildren, Elicia Good, Isaiah James Fahnestock, Nicole Wise, Danielle Wise, three great grandchildren, Ty James Fahnestock, Joshua and Nathan Good, two brothers, J. Robert Fahnestock of New Holland and Mark H. Fahnestock of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy H., Paul H., Harold H., Harry H. Fahnestock and a sister, Miriam Shearer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Avenue, Lancaster, PA on Friday, January 20, 2012 starting at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Rill officiating. Interment in East Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
