James M. “Jimmy” Frey, 71, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing at Lititz. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Martin L. and Mildred L. Risser Frey. For over 43 years Jimmy was the custodian at the High School for the Manheim Central School District. He enjoyed getting to know students and interacting with them, sharing his watch collection and a daily historic fact. Every day Jimmy provided a positive experience to the students and faculty at Manheim Central. Jimmy was an active and faithful member of the former Chestnut Hill Mennonite Church, Columbia. He enjoyed attending Rough & Tumble Engineers Events, going to Roots Market, Conestoga Auctions, Black Angus Antique Mall, and Shupp’s Grove Antique Market. Jimmy was a huge Manheim Central Barons and Phillies Fan. He also enjoyed bird watching.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary J. Brubaker of Landisville, Anna Lois wife of Elwood Hess of Manheim, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Jimmy in death was a sister, Evelyn Hess.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jimmy’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Landisville Reformed Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Jimmy’s memory to Mennonite Disaster Services, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
