James E. “Jim” Boyd Jr., 78, of Manheim passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Born in York, he was the son of the late James E. Boyd Sr. and Elva Armstrong Boyd Shellenberger and stepfather, Robert “Bob” Shellenberger. He was the husband of the late June M. Miller Boyd who died in 2009. Jim worked as a tool & die maker at the former Manheim Belting Co. and New Standard Corp. where he retired in 2001. Following retirement, he worked at the Kreider’s Dairy Plant, Manheim. Jim graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1956 and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Manheim VFW Post 5956 and Elstonville Sportsmen’s Association, Manheim. His interests included camping, boating, horseback and motorcycle riding. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Surviving are four sons, James E. III husband of Kathleen Boyd of Goodlettsville, TN, Jeffrey L. husband of Lisa Boyd of Palmyra, Tony S. husband of Tracy Wanner and Terry Wanner, ten grandchildren, one great grandson and a sister, Jackie wife of Dave Banzohf of Florida. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy L. Wanner, a grandson, Michael Burdge, sister, Joan Weit and a brother, Richard Shellenberger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private.
