James A. “Jim” Brown, 71, of Ephrata, died peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Gyles H. and Esther Hambleton Brown. Jim was the loving husband of Sandra Garber Bowman Brown. An electrician throughout his life, he was the owner of Daystar Company Inc. Ephrata; previously he was a member of IBEW Local 414. Jim was an active and faithful member of Speedwell Heights Brethren In Christ Church, Lititz. His interests included antique cars and rooting for his favorite teams the Phillies and Eagles.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sandy, are four sons: James A. Jr. husband of Karen Brown of Lancaster, Chris husband of Tammy Brown, Andy husband of Michelle Brown all of Ephrata, Adam husband of Jennifer Brown of Lancaster, a daughter, Rebekah “Becky” Brown of Elizabethtown, two step sons: Gregg husband of Tabetha Bowman of Dunedin, FL., Daryl husband of Nina Bowman of Fullerton, CA., a step daughter, Dawn wife of Paul Dauenbaugh of Red Lion, two grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, and a brother, John “Jack” Brown of Milton. He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Hill.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Manheim Brethren In Christ Church, 54 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the Manheim Brethren In Christ Church on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Jim’s memory to Speedwell Heights Brethren In Christ Church Building Fund, 413 West Brubaker Valley Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
