Jack T. Landis, 73, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles and Pauline Todd Landis. He was the loving husband of Loretta Harsh Landis, and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in January of this year.
A truck driver for Yellow Freight for 35 years, Jack was a member of Teamsters Local 771 in Lancaster and proudly earned the 3 Million Mile Safety Award, for accident free miles, from Yellow Freight prior to his retirement in 2006.
Jack cherished his family and his greatest joy in life was spending time with them. An avid sports fan, his favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his favorite teams were the Phillies and Steelers. Jack attended Trinity Baptist Church in Elm and was a model railroader and outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey S., husband of Lisa Landis of Newmanstown; three daughters, Kathy, wife of Russell Balmer of Lititz, Kelly Anne, wife of Troy Horst of Lititz, Kimberly Marie, wife of Steve Groff of Manheim; five grandchildren, Michael, Mark and Dean Landis, Ryan Balmer, and Megan Groff; three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald, husband of Julie Landis of York, Gordie, husband of Jean Landis of Lebanon. He is preceded in death by two brothers, John and Larry Landis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jack’s funeral service at the Buch- Heisey Funeral Home, 216 South Broad St., Lititz, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Friday evening, October 14, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
