Jack M. Davis, 91, of Manheim and formerly of Manheim Township passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Glen Rogers, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Nada McGinnis Davis. He was the husband of the late Winifred Burlingame Davis who died in 2001. Jack retired as a salesman for Carpet Mart, Lancaster. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II as an Electrician’s Mate First Class on the USS Mt. Baker, USS Albert T. Harris and USS Ebert. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council #14524 and Santa Maria Assembly # 0915. Jack volunteered many hours at Hospice & Community Care and would visit and take communion to area nursing homes. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and he enjoyed watching sports.
Surviving is a daughter, Elizabeth A. “Betty” Rush of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn J. Davis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Father Stephen D. Weitzel as celebrant. Interment in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery, Rapho Township with military honors. There will be a public viewing at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
