J. Richard “Dick” Grube, 86, of Manheim, died peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Mastersonville, he was the son of the late Edith Grube and the step son of the late Ellis Zeager. Dick was the husband of Nancy J. Kopp Vogel Grube of Lebanon, and the late A. Louise Barto Grube who died in October of 1984. He worked many years as a construction equipment mechanic for Elliott and Frantz, Lancaster; he also owned and operated automatic laundries: New Street Laundry in Lititz and Neffsville Laundry. A veteran, Dick proudly served in the US Navy aboard the US Sullivans Destroyer during the Korean War. He was a 1946 graduate of Manheim High School. Dick was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, and the Manheim American Legion. He served for 17 years as the treasurer for the PA Automatic Laundry and Cleaning Council and secretary for the Manheim Merchants Bowling League. Other memberships included the Sullivans Association and the Manheim Historical Society. Dick enjoyed bowling, listening to Jazz music, and was a passionate Phillies fan.
Surviving is a son, J. Alan husband of Lahla Grube of Manheim, a granddaughter, Nicole wife of Michael Wayde of Columbia, a step granddaughter, Tina Leber of Manheim, three great grandsons: Kyle, Aidan J., and Chase, and two step great granddaughters: Kristen and Allysen.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dick’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 6:00 PM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Dick’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
