J. Lester Stauffer, 96, of Manheim, died peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Lawn, he was the son of the late John K. and Katie Hess Stauffer. Lester was the husband of the late Dorothy K. Hess Keller Stauffer who died in November of 2014; his first wife was the late Dorothy M. Keener Stauffer who died in October of 1994. In his early years Lester was in business with his father operating the J. K. Stauffer and Son Feed Mill in Lawn. Following those early years, Lester was an accountant for several companies in the Lancaster County area, and was a public accountant providing services as the owner of J. Lester Stauffer & Co., Manheim. Following retirement Lester provided transportation to the Amish community throughout Lancaster and surrounding areas. He was a member of the White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim.
Surviving are three daughters: Judy wife of Ken Weaver of Lititz, Carol wife of Larry Rohrer of Manheim, Marilyn wife of Mark Zimmerman of Lititz, eight grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and two sisters: Marian Shenk of Manheim, and Velma Gingrich of Palmyra. Preceding him in death are two sisters: Alta Hosler and Myrtle White.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lester’s memorial service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 6:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the memorial service in Hoffer Auditorium on Thursday evening. Interment will be private in Chiques Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Manheim. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Lester’s memory to Pleasant View Retirement Community Benevolent Care Endowment Fund, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545 or White Oak Church of the Brethren Benevolent Fund, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545.
