J. Donald “Donnie” Steffy, 86, of Lititz, died peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Magnolias of Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Leroy E. and Lida Mumma Steffy. Donnie was the loving husband of M. Jean Sturgis Steffy and they observed their 65th wedding anniversary in August of last year. A veteran, Donnie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 1950 graduate of Lititz High School, and received an Associate’s Degree in Business from Lancaster Business School. Donnie was co-owner of the Lititz Springs Garage until his retirement. He was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lititz, where he served as greeter and usher. He also was a member of the Young Men’s Business League of Lititz, and the Lititz Lions Club where, he served as president. Donnie and Jean enjoyed spending the winter months in St. Petersburg, Florida where you would find him fishing or golfing whenever he got the opportunity. He also enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams the New York Yankees and the Notre Dame Football Team.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jean, is a niece, Donna Grosteffon, and four nephews: Mark Longenecker, Kirk Longenecker, Monroe Wonder and John Wonder.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Donnie’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Machpelah Cemetery, Lititz.
