Imogene C.”Jean” Gorton, 88, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Moravian Manor following a brief illness. Born in Adamstown, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Fannie Carpenter Stoltz. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ford W. Gorton, who passed away in 1997.
She worked for many years at Warner Lambert and later worked in housekeeping at Moravian Manor and Woodstream.
A loving and caring mother and grandmother, Jean was a member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation. She liked to play Bingo and enjoyed going out to lunch and spending time with her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie M. Shertzer, wife of Larry, Lititz; Robin Dimitris, wife of Douglas, Lancaster; a son, Dudley Gorton, Puerto Rico; step daughter, Elaine Alexander, WA; grandchildren, Todd Shertzer, Brooke Anderson, Michael Gorton, Harrison Gorton and Kirsti Dimitris; 4 great grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia, Stella and Phoebe and a sister Anna Short of Ephrata.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Jean at the Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, on Friday, January 29th, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean be made to the Lititz Moravian Church Book of Remembrance, 8 Church Square, Lititz, PA 17543.
