Howard “Hop” Shank, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Lancaster General Hospital. He was the son of the late William and Marguerite Westheaffer Shank. Hop was the loving husband of Lucille Putt Shank and they were blessed to have 67 years of marriage together. Howard was an active life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church of Manheim. A life member of the Manheim Historical Society, Hop was a true historian of Manheim which he loved; and could talk about the town whenever he was asked. Hop was also a well know auto technician in area garages. After going to work at Groff Cadillac as a service manager, he opened Shank’s Automotive and Towing on South Main Street, Manheim. Following retirement from the automotive garage, Hop worked for the Manheim Auto Auction for 20 years. He loved working and talking with everyone he bumped into. He was a member of the Oldsmobile Club in Hershey. Hop was the happiest and proudest father of two sons: Ronald husband of Sherry Waughtel Shank of Manheim, Douglas husband of Marjorie Windle Shank of Lancaster, three granddaughters: Missie wife of Mike Schaeffer of Lancaster, Ashley and Kelsey Shank of Lancaster, two great grandchildren: Tyler and Natalie Schaeffer of Lancaster. Hop was a friendly fun loving guy, loved by many, certainly enjoyed talking and helping others. Hop was loved by many but especially his family. They loved him so very much and will always have the special memories of vacations at Ocean City Maryland and the holidays were always special times. He taught us all how to love, care and be happy. Love You So Much!
Thanks Hop, for the wonderful life we shared together with our family and friends. You will be greatly missed by all! Love You, Your wife Lucille and Family.
