Hiram W. Nissley, 87, formerly of Landisville Road, Manheim passed away peacefully at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster on Friday, December 21, 2018. Born in East Hempfield Township, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Stella Witmer Nissley. He was the loving husband of Mary C. Bauman Nissley and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in September. Hiram worked at Chemgro, East Petersburg and for several Feed Mills in Lancaster County. In his earlier years, he operated his farm in East Hempfield Township. Hiram was a member of Kauffman Mennonite Church, Manheim where he served as a Deacon for many years. He also served as Treasurer and on the board for the Manheim Christian Day School. His interests included flower and vegetable gardening and he loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Diane L. Zaiac (Paul) of Marietta, Joyce E. Jones (William) of Lancaster, Barbara J. Carmer (Kasey) of Penns Grove, NJ, Eileen K. and Cheryl A. Nissley both of Landisville and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, and two sisters, Irene Nissley and D. Virginia Nissley.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Kauffman Mennonite Church, 1355 Lancaster Road, Manheim on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Hiram’s memory to the Mennonite Home, Benevolent Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
