Herman Vander Meulen, 80, of Manheim, died Saturday July 9, 2011 at his residence of natural causes. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Dowhen) Vander Meulen who died in 1998. Born in Patterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Herman and Cornelia (De Graaf) Vander Meulen. He was a butcher in his early years, but he was a self-employed exterminator most of his life. Herman attended Calvary Church of Lancaster. He enjoyed fresh water fishing in the Susquehanna River. Surviving are two sisters, Marie wife of Walter Jeryc of Ringwood NJ, Anna Lau of Wayne NJ; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Heilig Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy PA, on Thursday July 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
