Henry R. Grumbling, 87, of Lititz, died peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Ephrata Manor. Born in Rothsville, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Minnie Rabegum Grumbling. He will be lovingly missed by his companion of many years Greta Smith of Stevens. Henry was a truck driver for many years for Colonial Metals, Columbia. In his early years he was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rothsville. Henry was a member of the Elstonsville Sportsmen’s Association and the I.O.O.B. of Lititz. Henry had a passion for Dirt Track and NASCAR Racing. He was a member of the Lanco Micro Midget Racing Club, and was a Micro Midget Car Owner and Driver and participated in races at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. His favorite race car drivers were Kenny Schrader and Bill Elliott. Henry’s other favorite activities were going to casinos and Bingo events.
Surviving in addition to his companion, Greta Smith, is a sister, Mary Garber of Ephrata and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are three sisters: Esther Sweigart, Ruth Sweigart, and Virgie Sweigart.
The family would like to thank the nurses, physicians, and staff at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, and Ephrata Manor Retirement Community, for the wonderful care given to Henry during his illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Henry’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsville.
