Henry J. Schilling, 77, of 4145 Jasmine Place Mount Joy, formerly of Springfield, Delaware County passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy following a lengthy illness. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Henry Adam and Gertrude (Shay) Schilling. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Minnich) Schilling; they would have celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary in August of this year. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne (Pennypacker) Schilling in 1985. He graduated from Manheim High School, received a Bachelors Degree from Millersville State Teachers' College, and his Masters Degree in Education (Guidance Counseling) from Temple University. Henry retired as an Industrial Arts teacher from the Upper Darby School District after teaching for over thirty years. Henry also worked as electrical inspector, a roofer, and engaged in small construction projects during the summers when he was not teaching. Henry was a member of Ironville United Methodist Church, Columbia. He was a man of many talents and knew a lot of trivia; he was always there to help out anyone in need.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother, William Bill Schilling (Lucille) of Manheim, a son, Peter Schilling (Kate) of Manheim/ Selbyville Delaware, a daughter, Claire Lindelow (Kurt) of Exton, a step-son, Robert Geibe (Barbara) of Mount Joy, two step-daughters, Sandra Geibe of Mount Joy and Jenny Lowe (Charlie) of Columbia, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Schilling, two step-sons, Charles E. and David L. Geibe, and two step-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Service at Ironville United Methodist Church, 4020 Holly Drive, Columbia on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Charles A. Deutsch officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
