Helen Elizabeth Jefferson, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Lancashire Hall. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Robert Bishop Hill and Helen Wallace Hill. Mrs. Jefferson was educated in Lancaster Schools and a life time resident of Lancaster. She worked for the Planning Department at Lancaster City Hall for many years. Helen loved meeting people and had a deep passion for encouraging and helping people throughout her life. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed music especially Gospel, and doing puzzles. Helen devoted her life raising her sons, and always found time to love and assist grandchildren. She will never be forgotten for her generosity.
Surviving are two sons: Robert “Tony” husband of Laura Jefferson of Lancaster, Curtis Jefferson of Lancaster, five grandchildren: Anthony Jefferson, Jacqueline Hunter, Yolanda Jefferson, Marcus Jefferson, Kira Brown, seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing. Preceding her in death are three sisters and two brothers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen’s Home Going Service at the Bright Side Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
