Harvey S. “Bud” Kopp, 85, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim surrounded by his family. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mabel Shenk Kopp. He was the loving husband of June Miller Kopp and they observed their 64th wedding anniversary in June of last year. An electrician, Harvey founded Kopp Electric, Penryn, in 1961 and worked there 31 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. Harvey was also a member of Manheim Masonic Lodge #587 F&AM and the Manheim Sportsman Association where he was a member for over fifty years. An avid hunter, Harvey was owner of Green Valley Hunting Camp, Potter County, Twitchell Turn Lodge in the Adirondacks and he traveled to Alaska six times.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Edwin M. “Ed” husband of Suzanne Newcomer Kopp of Manheim, a daughter, Kathy M. wife of Doug Longenecker of Lititz; four grandsons, Jesse and Aaron Kopp, Jeremiah husband of Heather Longenecker, and Gallaway Longenecker; one great grandson, Cayson Longenecker. Harvey was preceded in death by a brother, Howard S. Kopp.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the church Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A Masonic Service will take place at the church on Friday at 11:15 AM by Manheim Lodge # 587. Interment will be in Penryn Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
