Harry G. Wiggins

August 12, 1927 — February 2, 2014

Harry G. Wiggins, 86, of Manheim passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Fairmont, he was the son of the late Ralph J. and Maude Beech Wiggins. He was the loving husband of Dorothy O. Pruiett Wiggins and they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in June. Harry was founder and CEO of Wiggins Asphalt-Paving Inc., Manheim. Following his retirement, he was a member of the Board of Directors and past president for Fairlane Acres, Florida. In his earlier years, Harry worked at the former Lancaster Valite. He was an active and faithful member of Mount Joy Church of God where he served on church council, financial secretary, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. Harry was a member of Gideons International where he served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and chaplain and he was a former member of the Manheim Rotary Club. Harry also enjoyed camping with family and friends at the Ponderosa Camping Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Sharon R. wife of Rick Wood, Shelly J. Moyer, Sue E. wife of Charles Morrison, Sandra L. wife of Gene Hinkle, sons, Ralph J. Wiggins and William Mike Hodson, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers, Ralph “Jake” Wiggins and John Wiggins, a sister, Doris wife of Frank Groff and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Wiggins, two brothers, Clyde and Edgar Wiggins and four sisters, Ethel Cooper, Mary Mildred, Catherine and Suie Wiggins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Mount Joy Church of God, 30 East Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Harry’s memory to Mount Joy Church of God, Building Fund, 30 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
