Harold H. LeFever

July 17, 1921 — February 24, 2011

Pastor Harold H. LeFever, 89, formerly of Harrisburg, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, February, 24, 2011 at the Landis Homes Retirement Community Lititz. Born in East Lampeter Township, he was the son of the late Lehman H. and Frances Horst LeFever. Retiring in 1986, Harold worked in the maintenance department for Keystone Building Products Harrisburg for 26 years; previously he was employed by Graybill Machines Inc. in Halfville. Harold was the husband of the late Mary Hess LeFever who died in June of 2008; his first wife was the late Lillian Weaver LeFever who died in 1952. Harold was ordained as a pastor in 1963. He was instrumental in starting the Herr Street Mennonite Church located in Harrisburg and served as member and pastor of the church for over 42 years. In June of 1972 Harold and the Herr Street Mennonite Church with the help of the Mennonite Disaster Relief coordinated clean-up efforts for the city of Harrisburg during Hurricane Agnes. Surviving are three sons: Dale H. husband of Dorothy Keeport LeFever of Middletown, David G. LeFever of Lititz, Alan R. husband of Gwenn Flickenger LeFever of Manheim, two daughters: Jean M. wife of James A. Miller of John Day, Oregon, Lois A. wife of Louis H. Martin of Middletown, eleven grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, a brother, Merle husband of June LeFever of Manheim, and two sisters: Miriam Hilsher of Manheim and Frances wife of Carl Leaman of Leola. Preceding him in death is a daughter-in-law, Rachel LeFever, and two brothers: Titus and Jay LeFever. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from the Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, PA on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Edward Zook and Pastor Melvin Allgyer officiating. Interment is in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a viewing at the Herr Street Mennonite Church 1026 Herr Street, Harrisburg on Saturday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Sunday afternoon at the Erb Mennonite Church from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.
