Harold E. Eshleman, 89, of Manheim, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Moravian Manor, Lititz. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mae Ober Eshleman. Harold was the loving husband of the late June Seachrist Eshleman who died in June of 2013. For many years Harold worked in the shipping and receiving department for Alcoa, Lancaster. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier during World War II. He attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim; and was a member of the Manheim VFW. Harold was proud that he was a life-long Democrat. He had an intense passion for knowledge and would spend his time reading books and newspapers. Having a real teacher’s heart; Harold would meet and engage people by informing or discussing topics of the day, history, and current events both local, and from around the world. Other interests included: Hudson and Chrysler automobiles, big band, country, and classical music.
Surviving is a son, J. Michael husband of Teresa Bleyer Eshleman, a daughter, Claudia R. wife of Terry Connelly all of Manheim, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters: Marion wife of Ross Weaver, Elizabeth Hevener, Dorothy Fritsch, and a brother, Donald husband of Joan Eshleman. Preceding him in death is a son, C. David Eshleman, a brother, Robert G. “Skip” Eshleman, and a sister, Jean Hoxworth.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Harold’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township.
