Harold B. Kreider, 85, of Lititz went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Willow Street, he was the son of the late Eli and Laura Weaver Kreider. Harold was the loving husband of Esther Garman Kreider and they observed their 63rd wedding anniversary in November of 2010. A life-long farmer, Harold and Esther started growing mums in 1953 and developed Kreiders' Mum Farm located near Lititz. He was known for growing new varieties and colors of mums throughout his career. Harold was a faithful and active member of the White Oak Church of the Brethren in Manheim where he taught Sunday school. He had a passion and love for music; and he enjoyed playing the fiddle and singing in various music groups. He enjoyed oil painting. Throughout his life he was a true entrepreneur; and was not afraid to venture out and try new things. Surviving in addition to his wife Esther is a son, Larry H. husband of LaVerne Heller Kreider of Lititz, a daughter, Linda K. wife of John Miller of Lititz, nine grandchildren: Katrina, Charita, Joshua, Leticia, Chad, Anita, Kate, Roselyn, Derek, ten great grandchildren, two brothers: Lloyd and James Kreider both of Lancaster, four sisters: Evelyn Martin of Lititz, June wife of Jay Garber and Mary Gehman all of Lancaster, and Francis wife of Earl Martin of Milton. Harold was one of fourteen brothers and sisters and was preceded in death by Robert, Nelson, Roy, Dorothy, Esther, Ruthie, and David. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the White Oak Church of the Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM with ministers: J. Marvin Shenk and James F. Myer officiating. Interment is in Graybills Brethren Cemetery, Elm. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing time on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
