Gregory Allen McKain of Crownsville, MD passed away suddenly on Sunday October 30 at home. Born on August 25, 1955, in Columbia, PA, he is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years Jane Heilig McKain, his beloved daughter Kelsey Brandt (with whom he shared a birthday) and her husband Eric Brandt, as well as his mother Ruth McKain, sister Rhonda Conaway, and niece Jaimie Helmstaedter. He was an active member of every musical community he ever participated in, including but not limited to the Donegal High School Band Program, the Fort Belvoir and Fort Polk Army Bands, the Washington Diplomats Jazz Band, the Annapolis-based Jello Boys and Badger Band, and the Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, where his natural musical talent and charisma shone with every note he played. After being discharged from the army in 1976, Greg pursued a career in IT services and most recently spent 17 years at CAS Severn in Laurel, MD, as a Project Manager. In addition to making music, he loved to travel throughout the US and Europe, root for the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Capitols through thick and thin, and tell as many corny jokes as possible. Greg has touched countless lives of friends, family, colleagues, and youth he mentored in meaningful and memorable ways throughout his life.
All who wish to gather to celebrate his life are invited to attend either Friday November 11, 2016 from 1:00 pm-3:00pm at Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy, PA or on Sunday November 13, 2016 at 2pm in the Fellowship Hall of Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church 921 Generals Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.
