Grace L. “Maggie” Eshelman, 94, of Manheim and Lancaster, died peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Catherine Hubley Lipp. Maggie was the loving wife of the late Robert S. “Bob” Eshelman, who died in September of 2011. They had been married for almost 70 years.
Surviving are two sons: Ronald C. husband of Sharon Kapphan Eshelman of Peoria, AZ, John D. husband of Joanne Saulina Eshelman of Manheim, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her brother, Harry Lipp.
Maggie was active in the community, enjoying memberships in the Manheim and Millersville Women’s Clubs, Lancaster Co. Federation of Women’s Clubs, the PA Federation of Women’s Clubs and Eastern Star. While serving as President of the Lancaster Co. Federation, she was proud to be involved in that organization’s project to contribute funds for the restoration of the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster. Maggie was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim, for many years. She had been employed as an administrative assistant to a District Justice in Mount Joy, retiring in 1982. An avid golfer, Maggie loved golfing with her husband over the years. Her interests included crafts, quilling, and everything Christmas. She collected spun glass ornaments for many years, and delighted family and friends with her beautiful, sparkling Christmas trees.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Maggie’s memory to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Endowment Fund, P. O. Box 129, Manheim, PA 17545.
