Gloria F. Loercher, formerly of East Gramby Street, Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Penryn, she was the daughter of the late Alvin S. and Grace I. Pickle Shelly. Gloria was the loving wife of Ray E. Loercher for fifty years, until his death in 1999. She worked in the cafeteria for the Manheim Central School District for many years; previously she was employed as a secretary for the former Raymark Industries, Manheim. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Manheim, and helped with the altar guild. Gloria was a 1947 graduate of Manheim High School. She was a member of the Manheim Historical Society. Gloria was an avid gardener and loved her flowers and yard work. Her interests included: puzzels, reading, traveling, spending time at the beach, and hunting for Cape May diamonds. Gloria was a faithful member of her local women's card club for over fifty years and spent many happy hours with her friends throughout the years. Her life-long passion was her family and she loved spending time and participating in the activities with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are three sons: Michael R. husband of Robin A. Peterman Loercher of Manheim, Dennis E. husband of Holly McFarland Loercher of Penryn, Andrew T. Loercher of Lancaster, two daughters: Sandra L. Grimm of Lancaster, Patti A. Witmeyer of Manheim, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a great granddaughter, Sarah Bowser, a son-in-law, Jeffrey Witmeyer and a brother, Alvin E. Shelly. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Sun Hill Road, Manheim, on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family in the Hoffer Auditorium on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service.
