Glenn A. Joerger

Glenn Arthur Joerger, 84, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA. He was the husband of A. Virginia Joerger. Born in Pekin, IL, Glenn was the son of the late George A. and Florence P. (Seggerman) Joerger. Glenn maintained a long career as a cost estimator for NCR Corp., System Media Division. He retired after 25 years with the company from their Mount Joy, PA facility. He had transferred there from NCR in Ithaca, NY. Glenn was also a veteran of the US Army, having served in the military from 1951 to May 1956. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged at the end of his service. Glenn was a member of the Masonic Hobasco Lodge no. 716, F.& A.M., Ithaca and Freeville, NY for 46 years. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church for 60 years, and was a volunteer for the Lancaster County Office of Aging. He was recognized as "An Angel of a Volunteer" for his exemplary service to that organization. Glenn enjoyed politics, reading and sports, including bowling, golf and swimming. He loved to travel, visiting many locations throughout Canada and Mexico, as well as the United States. He was long interested in animal welfare rights, and was a member of the Humane League of Lancaster County. He also had quite the green thumb, and enjoyed maintaining a flourishing vegetable and flower garden for many years. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Thomas Joerger; a daughter Kathleen, wife of the Rev. Christopher Hannum of Marietta, Georgia and two grandsons, David and Matthew (wife, Chari). He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Ralph W. Joerger and his sister, Ralda L. Copelen.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, NY.
