Gladys Transue Ayres

November 28, 1909 — February 13, 2010

Gladys T. Ayres, formerly of Larchmont, Delaware County, died Saturday February 13, 2010 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, PA. She was the widow of Benjamin F. Ayers who died in 1973. Born in Clintondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Emma (Ohl) Transue. Gladys was a executive secretary at the former Hornblower, Weeks, Hemphill, and Noyes brokerage firm in Philadelphia for many years before retiring. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia. She enjoyed serving with the U.S.O., the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. An avid traveler, she and her husband toured the world and enjoyed Australia the most. Her other interest included classical music and shopping. Gladys was very dedicated and loving to her nephews and their families, and her late brother and sister.

Surviving are two nephews James husband of Fran Frazer of Lansdale and Gerald husband of Carol Frazer of Reading, great nieces Brandi (Frazer) wife of Eric Greiner, and Katie Frazer, great nephew Michael husband of Terryn Frazer, and three great-great nephews Bryce, Chase and Luke, and two great-great nieces Christa and Josie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her graveside service at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 2321 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA on Monday February 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jesse Garner officiating. Heilig Funeral Home, Mount Joy PA is in charge of arrangements. Please omit flowers, contributions in Gladys memory may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. 21st Street, Philadelphia PA 19103.
