Gerald R. “Jerry” Snavely, 73, of Manheim, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Manor Township, he was the son of the late John H. Jr. and Mabel Heisey Snavely. Jerry was the loving husband of Linda Will Snavely and they observed their 36th wedding anniversary in October of this year. For over 37 years Jerry worked for Alcoa, Lancaster Plant until his retirement. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Manheim VFW. He enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening. He will be missed by his “girls”, two affectionate Pomeranian dogs named Foxy and Buttercup.
Surviving in addition to his wife Linda, is a daughter, Kerry wife of Greg Witwer of Ephrata, a grandson, Bryson Puryear of Ephrata, a brother, Donald husband of Linda Snavely of Irving, Texas, and a sister, Nancy wife of Gerald Bollinger of Ephrata. Preceding him in death is a brother, Clair Snavely.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with additional viewing time on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
