Dr. Gerald L. “Jerry” Weaver, DO, 87, formerly of 301 South Locust Street, Lititz, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Brethren Village on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Dr. Weaver was a well-known family physician serving the Lititz Area for over 38 years. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late J. Norman and Vera Witmer Weaver. As the loving husband of Miriam Hersch Weaver, they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Graduating from Elizabethtown College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed his medical degree and internship, becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1954.
Dr. Weaver was an active and faithful member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren. He had a passion for singing since age 14. With his beautiful bass voice, he volunteered for quartets and choirs, most recently in a special group at Brethren Village. He served as a board member and volunteer for Camp Swatara for years. He was a member of the Lititz Rotary Club. His interests included: motor home trips, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, playing bridge, billiards and reading. He was a devoted husband and father, and cherished time with his friends and family at the cabin, “Green Pastures”.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Miriam are three daughters, Pamela, wife of Gary Grow of Aurora, CO, Nancy, wife of Richard Harper of Wernersville, Diane, wife of Gerald Houseknecht of Glenmoore, a son, Gregory, husband of Carol Weaver of Lititz; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother, J. Donald Weaver of Manheim and a sister, Jeanette, wife of Paul Ebersole of Manheim.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jerry’s Memorial Service at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Chiques Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
