George R. Krentz, Sr., 94, formerly of Lancaster and Aston, PA passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Masonic Village Health Care Center, Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George W. and Natalie Alice Groff Krentz. He was the husband of the late Frances Porembo Krentz and his first wife, the late Sophie Ignatuk Krentz. George retired as a packaging engineer at the former Scott Paper Company, Chester, PA. He was a graduate of Williamson Trade School and Widener University, where he received his B.S. in Chemistry and he earned his Masters Degree. George was a member of St. Martins Episcopal Church, Aston, PA and Upper Chichester Senior Citizen Group. He was a Mason for 56 years and a member of the Chester Lodge FA.M. #236. He was a pattern maker by trade and he wrote several articles for the Williamson Trade Journal. An avid reader, George enjoyed fresh water fishing, woodworking, poetry, classical music, collecting coins and stamps.
Surviving is a son, David M. husband of Tina Krentz of Central City, a daughter, Elizabeth K. wife of David Mosher of Springfield, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Todd, Michael, Kimberly, Abigail, Mark, Robert and Peter; five great grandchildren, Brandon, Christine, Natasha, Ethan and Zachary. He was preceded in death by a son, George R. Krentz, Jr, and three sisters, Mary Glatfelter, Natalie Jane Baker and Edith Engle.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Masonic Village, John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 PM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
