Gary K. Stark, 69 of Silver Springs, West Hempfield Township entered into rest peacefully at the Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy facility on Wednesday August 24, 2011. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 49 years, Sylvia E. (Donahoo) Stark, his son and daughter in law, Michael L. and Nora G. (Motter) Stark, his daughter Michele S. Stark, grandson Jordan M. Stark, brother Gregory E. Stark husband of Doris (Knosp) Stark and three nephews, two great nephews, and one great niece. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Claude and Alveda (Kough) Stark. Gary was a graduate of Donegal High School class of 1960, an active member and usher for more than 47 years at St. Mark's United Methodist Church of Mount Joy, and he was a Mason and member of the Ashara-Casiphia Lodge #551 F&AM of Mount Joy. Gary contributed many hours working on projects for Habitat for Humanity along with many mission trips with St. Mark's Church. Gary always had a great passion for hot rod cars and automotives. That passion drove him to become recognized for many consecutive years in the President's Club for Sun Electric Corp. His career further led him to become Regional Sales Manager for Bear Automotive, as well as becoming owner and operator of the Silver Springs Garage. In later years after retirement, he worked part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction. In addition, some of Gary's other passions included Lionel trains, building and flying model airplanes, hunting, boating, fishing, bowling, playing cards, hosting many gatherings in his home, family vacations and weekend trips to the family's cabin at Raystown Lake. Gary was a charismatic, highly motivated, independent and generous man who brought great joy, kindness and wisdom to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his celebration of life at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 East Main Street Mount Joy on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00am. (Please use the main entrance at the rear of the church.) Interment at the Silver Springs Cemetery will be held privately. There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 East Main Street, Mount Joy from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with a Masonic Service at 7:45pm with an additional viewing time on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 10:00am until the time of the service.
