Galen R. Helt, 90, of Manheim, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Manor Care, Lebanon. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Samuel and Cora Balmer Helt. Galen worked in the scheduling department for the Fuller Company, Manheim, for many years; following retirement he was employed part time for the Manheim Auto Auction. He was the husband of the late, Olga R. Tribble Helt who died in September of 2004. Galen served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim, the Manheim American Legion Post 419, and a life time member of the Hope Fire Engine and Hose Company # 1 of Manheim.
Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn R. wife of Gerald R. Peters, of Manheim, three grandchildren: Brian husband of Michelle Peters, Kevin Peters partner of David Gelatt, Lindsay wife of Jeremy Troop, and five great grandchildren: Kyle, Troy, Sydney Peters and Caleigh and Cayden Troop. Preceding him in death is a brother, Woodrow Helt and a sister Naomi Helt.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Galen’s memory may be sent to Heartland Hospice, 4 Park Plaza Suite 105-A, Park Road North, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
