Fredine Gehman Bednarzick, 85, of Mount Joy danced into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy after an incredibly courageous battle with dementia. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Loletia (Loraw) Gehman. Fredine grew up and spent most of her life living in Mount Joy . . . her hometown which she adored. She graduated from the former Mount Joy High School, Class of 1950 and was blessed to maintain several close friendships from this class! She attended Glossbrenner United Methodist Church where in previous years she enjoyed her Sunday School class, singing in the choir, and serving with the Lancaster County Council Of Churches. Fredine retired in 1996 from the PA Department Of Public Welfare in Lancaster, PA. She absolutely loved her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, her family, classic country music, taking family vacations to OCNJ, rocking on any front porch, roller skating, iced cold Coca-Cola and anything chocolate! In later years, she thoroughly enjoyed watching and ordering fun gifts from QVC. She has shared in a very unique friendship with her best friend Shirley Reheard O'Leary . . . these two were "besties" before they were even born as their mothers were close friends, and the two ladies were expecting Fredine and Shirley within weeks of each other in January 1933!
Surviving is a daughter Heidi wife of Terry Wallace, Mount Joy; two granddaughters Brittney Taylor wife of Derek Crum, Ocala, FL, Courtney Mae wife of Preston Hardee, Mount Joy; Niece Sandy Heisey, Mount Joy; and two nephews James R. husband of Patricia Miller and Dan husband of Kelly Heisey, Mechanicsburg. In addition to her parents, Fredine was preceded in death by her sister Zelda Heisey.
Fredine's family wants to send huge thanks to the incredible team of doctors, nurses and volunteers at Hospice & Community Care for their outstanding care and compassion that she was blessed with during these past few weeks.
