Frederick W. Urban

October 30, 1924 — July 7, 2015

Frederick W. Urban, 90, of Manheim passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Andrew and Amelia Schonder Urban. Fred was a police officer for the PA State Police and retired in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim, Knights of Columbus, Lebanon and the VFW #23, Lebanon. Fred was the husband of the late Anna Mae Ginder Urban, who passed away in 2000. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster Third Class during WWII.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary M. wife of David J. Ferruzza of Mount Joy, and three grandchildren, Kathryn, Matthew, and Timothy all at home. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Urban and a sister, Marie Miller.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will be at Longenecker’s Brethren Cemetery. There will be visitation with the family at the church on Saturday 10:00AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim, PA 17545.
