Franklin J. Minnich
Franklin J Minnich also known as “Duke”, 86, of Manheim, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the home of his daughter, Susan, in Frederick, MD. Born in Reinerton, PA he was the son of the late William and Ruth Bechtel Minnich. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth J. “Betty” Ney Minnich and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in March of this year. Frank was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He began his career working in the coal mines in Tower City, then was employed by Middletown Manufacturing, and retired from the former Raymark Industries, Manheim, where he worked as a steam fitter. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, the Manheim Masonic Lodge, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, and the Dela-Ches Fishing Association. Frank had a passion for hunting and fishing, especially in the Indian River, DE, deep sea fishing, tying flies, and spending time at the beach and the family cabin in Dauphin County.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ann wife of Larry Bandrowsky of Dagsboro, DE, Susan J. wife of Michael Calhoun of Frederick, MD, three sons, Ronald F. Minnich of Tower City, Allen B. Minnich of Schaefferstown, Richard husband of Pamela Minnich of Manheim, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, three brothers, and two grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Frank’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City.
